The City contracts with Waste Management for residential and multi-family trash and recycling collection services. Residential trash is collected every Wednesday. Typically, if a holiday falls on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, trash pick-up will occur on Thursday. If the holiday falls on a weekend, trash pick-up will occur on the regularly scheduled Wednesday.

Bear Resistant carts are currently out of stock for Arcadia residents to purchase. A new order has been placed with expected delivery at 12 weeks. To purchase a bear resistant cart, Arcadia residents are required to complete the Bear Cart Agreement found below and return it to PublicWorks@ArcadiaCA.gov. Once the agreement is received, Waste Management will bill according to the selected payment type, and delivery of the cart will occur as soon as the carts are back in stock.

Composting:
The City offers a 3 x 2 foot compost bin to residents for the low price of $35. (Limit one per household)
Worm composting is the easiest method for turning food scraps into nutrient-rich compost. All you need is a bin with air holes and a tight-fitting lid, some shredded newspaper and about a half to one pound of red worms. Keep the bin warm but out of the direct sun and in approximately two weeks you can harvest your compost. Earthworms may be purchased at a local bait shop and/or an authorized online vendor. Worm composting bins are available to residents for $65. (Earthworms not included)
