Under the direction of the Fire Marshal, the Arcadia Fire Prevention Bureau is dedicated to increasing safety, preventing and reducing fire losses, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and ordinances.

To that end, the Fire Prevention Bureau's goal of safeguarding the community from fire and environmental hazards are achieved through programs which require adherence to fire regulations, public education, and hazard mitigation.  This is accomplished by conducting annual inspections of buildings and facilities within the community, providing public education programs, examining development site plans, and thoroughly investigating all suspicious/accidental fires and any unauthorized release of hazardous material products. 

Other Fire Prevention Bureau Responsibilities:

  • Conducting annual fire safety inspections (fee applicable) at high-rise buildings, hotels, businesses, multi-family buildings (apartments and condos), schools, public assembly occupancy, health care facilities, special events, movie filming, fire alarm installations, and medical gas installations issuance of office permits

  • Conducting inspections of new construction, tenant improvements, and automatic fire protection systems
  • Public education and safety awareness programs
