Bicycle & Pedestrian Improvement Plan

The City, on an ongoing basis, looks for funding opportunities to improve the City’s transportation system. Currently, the City has secured the following transportation grant funds:

Arcadia Gold Line Station Pedestrian Linkage Project - $1,500,000:
The City competed for and was awarded the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) Call for Projects program funds. The funding is available in Fiscal Year 2015-16. The project involves design and construction of pedestrian improvements around the Arcadia Gold Line Station, connecting Downtown Arcadia with the Gold Line light rail.

Bicycle Facility Improvements Project - $1,020,000:
The City competed for and was awarded the State Active Transportation Program funds. The funding is available in Fiscal Year 2016-17. The project involves design and installation of citywide bicycle network including bicycle lanes, routes, signs and bike racks. In addition, certain intersections will be upgraded to include bicycle detections and bicycle actuated traffic signals.

Safe Routes to School Improvements in Hugo Reid Elementary School Neighborhood - $647,000:
In cooperation with the Arcadia Unified School District, the City competed for and was awarded the Federal Safe Routes to School Program funds. This project involves the design and construction of pedestrian improvements in the neighborhood surrounding Hugo Reid Elementary School.
