The Community Affairs Office administers several community outreach programs and civic engagement functions throughout the year related to crime prevention and safety.
Neighborhood Watch Program
The Arcadia Police Department’s Neighborhood Watch program is administered by the Community Affairs Office. The mission of the program is to educate community residents regarding their roles and responsibilities in the prevention of crime, and to encourage them to take active measures to prevent crime. The program calls upon residents to step forward and assist the police in organizing the community into a cohesive unit working toward the goal of building a safer, crime-free neighborhood. Neighborhood Watch groups discuss neighborhood crime problems with the objective of developing solutions to local problems. Arcadia police officers supply crime information to neighborhood watch organizations and instruct these groups in various crime prevention techniques.
As an Arcadia resident, the Neighborhood Watch program is an opportunity for you to take part in reducing crime in Arcadia and increasing your safety by:
- Participating in neighborhood watch.
- Increasing your safety knowledge and awareness.
- Getting to know your neighbors and neighborhood.
The most current campaign is “See Something – Say Something”, which means if you see unusual activity in your neighborhood, don’t wait to alert law enforcement, pick up the phone and call the Arcadia Police Department at (626) 574-5123 or Dial 9-1-1 immediately. Alert police to anything that may look suspicious. APD wants to ensure your safety, and your call to alert an officer is the best way that you can report important information.
Business Watch Program
The Arcadia Police Department's Business Watch program is also administered by the Community Affairs Office. The mission of the program is to educate Arcadia business owners on crime prevention and provide educational materials on various business safety topics.
Crime prevention cannot solely be a police responsibility. The commitment of business owners is vital to reducing the crime rate in the City. The Community Affairs Office is committed to supporting our businesses, and educational presentations are available to you and your employees. Inquiries may be made to the Arcadia Police Department Community Affairs Office.
