To keep pace with the rising costs of purchasing, purifying, and distributing water for Arcadia’s more than 56,000 residents and businesses, a five-year adjustment to water and sewer rates is being proposed to start January 2026.

Additional information regarding the cost of services analysis may be found in the City's Cost of Service Study Update.

While the City continually strives for cost reductions and better utilization of the assets it holds, it also needs to keep pace with inflation, drinking water and sewer discharge regulations, and other cost increases. The City contracted with an independent consultant to complete a cost of service analysis. Arcadia's water and sewer rates are among the lowest in the area, and will remain so, even with the proposed rate adjustments.

In December 2020, a revised public notice detailing the proposed rates was sent to water and sewer customers as well as property owners.

On February 2, 2021, a public hearing was held to consider implementing a schedule of increases to the water and sewer rates, and ultimately approved by the City Council.

The new rates will become effective and operative for water use and bills sent after February 2, 2021, and will be increased each January 1 thereafter, through and including January 1, 2025.
