Safely deposit used alkaline and rechargeable household batteries at one of the following Arcadia drop locations: City Hall, Library, Community Center, or Public Works Services Department.

*Please tape contact ends of lithium batteries.
*No automotive or motorcycle batteries.
*No plastic bags.
No dumping Fats, Oils, and Greases (FOGs) down the drain! FOGs create blockages in pipes and can damage residential and commercial sewer lines that lead to back flow of wastewater in homes and businesses. Exposure to untreated wastewater is a public-health hazard.
FOG

FOGs comes from meat fats in food scraps, cooking oil, shortening, lard, butter and margarine, gravy, and food products such as mayonnaise, salad dressings, and sour cream.

WHAT TO DO WITH FOGs:

  • Used FOGs can be properly disposed of by pouring or scraping it into a sealable container and placing the sealed container in the trash.
  • Wipe pots, pans, and dishes with dry paper towels before rinsing or washing them, then throw away the paper towels.

Arcadia residents are allowed up to three free HHW collections per year. For a list of qualifying HHW materials, view the flyer here. No business materials will be collected. To schedule a collection from your home, call (800) 449-7587, email atyourdoor@wm.com, or visit wmatyourdoor.com.

The following types of plastics are acceptable in your curbside recycling cart: Type 1, 2, and 5 plastics. On the packaging, look for the recycling symbol with the number inside to identify which type of plastic it is. For more information on recycling, please visit: https://www.wm.com/us/en/recycle-right/recycling-101. Please note that Tetrapak packaging is not recyclable even if the Tetrapak website claims otherwise; the City's recycling service can not recycle Tetrapak due to the waxy surface coating.
