The Arcadia Public Library offers a range of assistive technologies, materials, and services:
TECHNOLOGY
ADA Compliant Public Computer Stations - All our public computers feature the following accessibility tools:
- Magnifier: Full screen magnifier and enhancer
- Narrator: Produces audible speech from text
- Onscreen Keyboard: An alternative to typing that allows input via mouse clicks with modes to click, hover, or scan through keys, useful for users with mobility impairments
- “Zoom Text” – Magnification of electronic print and text-to-speech capability
- Live Caption - Allows users to have captioned audio and video live on the screen
ACCESSIBLE COLLECTIONS
Large Print Books: Our Large Print Collection includes fiction, nonfiction and Reader’s Digest Large Print Magazines.
Braille Institute Collection: We assist patrons with accessing and returning materials from the Braile Institute Library. We also assist patrons applying for a Library Card with the Braile Institute, so that they can have items shipped directly to their home at no cost.
Audiobooks: We have audiobooks in several different formats. If you come into the Library we have audiobooks on CD and on PlayAways (lightweight, portable, pre-loaded audiobook playing devices). Through our Digital Library, we have even more audiobooks available on Libby, which allows you to listen to audiobooks on your computer, tablet or mobile device.
eBooks: Our eBooks are available through Libby. When reading eBooks on Libby, readers can enlarge text, as well as adjust color and contrast levels.
