Arcadia Fire Department Receives Electric Bikes from YouTube
The Arcadia Fire Department will soon deploy four electric motorbikes (e-motos) donated by YouTube this May. Equipped with powerful motors, long-range lithium batteries, and all-terrain capabilities, the e-motos will enhance access during wildland operations, search and rescue, and crowded special events, which can be difficult to traverse with traditional emergency vehicles.
The e-motos will be capped at 30 miles per hour for safety and ease of control. Helmets and goggles are also provided to ensure personnel are properly equipped for safe operation.
The first two e-motos were on display at the Annual Pancake Breakfast hosted by the Arcadia Firefighters Association on May 2, with the final two bikes arriving later this month. The donation valued at approximately $40,600 will increase mobility and flexibility for the Arcadia Fire Department while keeping operating costs low.
Get ready, Arcadia! A month‑long celebration of America’s 250th anniversary kicks off June 1, leading up to a free Fourth of July drone show at Santa Anita Park, tickets are available at ArcadiaCA.gov/America250.

During his tenure, Chief Nakamura prioritized community safety, modernized the department’s technologies, and strengthened recruitment and training of officers to best serve all Arcadians. The process to identify the next Chief of Police is underway.
Safety Spotlight: Encampment Cleanup Efforts Continue
The City of Arcadia’s Police Department has been responding to reports of encampments located near Second Avenue and Colorado Boulevard, and the First Avenue and Foothill Boulevard area. Officers collaborated with the City’s Public Works Services and Recreation and Community Services Departments to provide services to unhoused individuals before encampments, trash, and graffiti were removed. Partner agencies like CalTrans and Los Angeles County also helped in the cleanup efforts.
