Problems Accessing eResources or Online Databases from Home

User login isn't mandatory to search for books or to access links in the Catalog system, but it is recommended. It is only required for specific user functions such as changing passwords or profiles and renewing or placing holds on items. IF YOU DO LOGIN REMEMBER TO LOGOUT WHEN YOU ARE DONE TO PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION.

  • To login, click on the Catalog banner at the top of this page and type in your Library Card Barcode (including the PARC and all the remaining characters as they appear on your library card but with no spaces, example: PARC000123456A) into the LOGIN: box.
  •  Type in your PASSWORD (your default password is the last 4 digits of your telephone number) into the PASSWORD: box.
    Press the Log In button.
  • Don't forget to click on the red LOGOUT link in the top right corner when you are leaving the Catalog so that your personal information is protected. If you have problems with any of these features, please ask for assistance at the Reference or Circulation Desks.

To change a PASSWORD or PIN in the Catalog follow these simple steps:

  • Click on the Catalog banner at the top of this page and login as instructed above with your Library Card Barcode in the LOGIN: box and your PASSWORD in the PASSWORD: box.
  • Select the CHANGE MY PASSWORD tab on the left of the screen.
  • Type the old password (the last 4 digits of your phone number if you have never changed your password before) into the CURRENT PASSWORD box.
  • Then type in the new PASSWORD into the NEW PASSWORD box and type it the same new PASSWORD into the RE-TYPE NEW PASSWORD box.
  • Then click on the SUBMIT CHANGES box. A message will confirm that your password has been changed.  BE SURE TO REMEMBER YOUR NEW PASSWORD.

  • Click on the Catalog banner above and login as instructed above with your Library Card Barcode in the LOGIN: box and your PASSWORD OR PIN in the PASSWORD: box at the right of the middle section of the Catalog screen.
  • Select MY SUMMARY from the tabs on the left of the screen.
  • Then select the items you wish to renew and click on the RENEW link or click on the RENEW ALL button on the bottom of the screen.
  • All items are renewable only one time so after you renew the item the link will disappear and the item will now show NOT RENEWABLE.

  • Click on the Catalog banner above and login as instructed above with your Library Card Barcode in the LOGIN: box and your PASSWORD OR PIN in the PASSWORD: box at the right of the middle section of the Catalog screen.
  • Select an item by typing in a title, author or subject into the SEARCH box or by clicking on a title from one of the available Lists found by clicking the LISTS button.
  • A hold can be placed on an item in 3 ways:
  • on the SEARCH SUMMARY page by clicking on the PLACE HOLD link on the bottom of each record
  • on the DETAIL page after clicking on a specific title and then clicking on the PLACE HOLD link on the right side of the screen
  • by clicking on ADD TO CART for each item you want, then clicking on CART to view all your items, clicking SELECT ALL or specific check boxes and clicking PLACE HOLD.
  • Once you click PLACE HOLD another window will open that allows you to select the date for when the hold starts or to set a hold to expire if not received by a certain date or to place a hold on the next available copy or a specific copy. You can leave all these dates empty to have the hold start immediately and to not expire. Click the PLACE HOLD button at the bottom of this window to complete the holds.
  • Holds are free only for items that are checked out. There is a limit of 5 Holds for any item and a $1.00 service fee if the items are not picked up in 7 days.
  • You can view your holds by clicking on MY SUMMARY on the left of the screen and then selecting the HOLDS tab where the status can be seen and where you can cancel your hold.
