The Downtown Arcadia Improvement Association (DAIA) was established in 2012 as an official Community Benefit District to promote and improve Downtown Arcadia. Generally bounded by Santa Anita Avenue to the West, Second Avenue to the East, Santa Clara Street to the north and California Street to the south, the DAIA is made up of a group of property and business owners that has as its primary goal the facilitation of a more active and pedestrian-friendly Downtown. The DAIA is interested in retail recruitment and business attraction, retention of key businesses in the Downtown, improving parking and pedestrian amenities, beautification of the Downtown area, and leveraging the Gold Line light rail service and Metro station in the district. In addition, special events in the Downtown are another way the DAIA is spreading the word about Downtown Arcadia and helping to bring activity and vitality to the area. Annual special events include a July 4th Patriotic Festival, Winter Holiday Market, and a Halloween Harvest Festival. For more information on the DAIA, please see Downtown Arcadia's Facebook page.
