The Downtown Arcadia Improvement Association (AIA) was established in 2012 as an official Community Benefit District to promote and improve Downtown Arcadia. Generally bounded by Santa Anita Avenue to the West, Second Avenue to the East, Santa Clara Street to the north and California Street to the south, the AIA is made up of a group of property and business owners that has as its primary goal the facilitation of a more active and pedestrian-friendly Downtown. The AIA is interested in retail recruitment and business attraction, retention of key businesses in the Downtown, improving parking and pedestrian amenities, beautification of the Downtown area, and working on leveraging the Gold Line as light rail service comes to Arcadia.

In addition, special events in the Downtown are one way the AIA is “spreading the word” about Downtown Arcadia and attempting to achieve the desired activity and vitality. A Holiday Market was staged in the Downtown over the past two holiday seasons, a Patriotic Concert was held in the Arcadia Transit Plaza as a “kick off” to the Independence Day holiday weekend, and, most recently, a Downtown Arcadia Street Fair is operating on Saturday nights along First Avenue north of Huntington Drive, from 5 to 9 p.m. For more information on the Street Fair, and the AIA in general, please see their Facebook Page at Downtown Arcadia's Facebook page.
