Peter Amundson was elected to the City Council in 2006, carrying out two terms through 2014, including serving as mayor in 2010-2011. He was elected to a third term for the Arcadia City Council in April 2016 after a two-year hiatus required by term limits. As an Arcadia native, Peter feels it is an honor to serve his hometown and to give back to the community that has given him so much. His interest and love for Arcadia was instilled within him as a young child as he was privileged to spend countless hours with his neighbor, the former Mayor and Arcadia advocate, Conrad Reibold. Peter has been an active volunteer in the community since he was a teenager and is involved in several organizations within the city. His experiences have made him a huge supporter of community volunteerism.
Peter believes the purpose of local government is to look out for its citizens’ interests. His focus on the council is primarily quality of life issues for Arcadians. He feels public safety is the number one responsibility of local government. As someone who loves the Arcadia in which he grew up, he is an advocate of slow growth and controlled development. Mr. Amundson appreciates the history and culture of our city as well as the hometown traditional values that have made Arcadia great.
Now in his fifth decade of living in Arcadia, Council Member Peter Amundson and his wife, Jackie, could not think of a better place on earth to raise their three children than the City of Arcadia.
