Councilmember Verlato was elected to her first term on City Council in April 2016.
She was born and raised in Arcadia, having attended Highland Oaks Elementary School and Foothills Jr. High. After high school, April went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from UCLA and a law degree from Southwestern University School of Law in Downtown Los Angeles. She took over her father’s law practice located in the heart of Downtown Arcadia on Huntington Drive.
She resides in the Highlands with her husband and two children who are currently attending Highland Oaks Elementary School and Foothills Middle School. She served on the Highland Oaks Elementary School Site Council 2014-2015 and has volunteered as an Foundations in Art Docent for her kids’ classrooms.
She served as the Architectural Review Board Chair for the Highlands Homeowners Association from 2015-2016.
Councilmember Verlato is also a founding member and President of the Downtown Arcadia Improvement Association (2014-present) a Community Benefits District focused on promoting and revitalizing Downtown Arcadia.
