SGVCOG Landlord Outreach, Education, and Incentive Program
The San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG) is implementing a regional landlord education and outreach program in the San Gabriel Valley. Rental property owners who participate in San Gabriel Valley Landlord Incentive Program (SGVLIP) receive a guaranteed rent check while still having the final say in who they rent to. Landlords also receive the support of SGVLIP staff who visit the rental unit once per month to support the tenant and ensure tenants are following the terms of the lease. Other financial incentives are also available to landlords, including:
* An upfront leasing bonus of $500
* A non-refundable holding deposit, up to the cost of 1 month’s rent
* Up to $2,000 for damage in excess of the security deposit
* Up to $3,000 to cover unpaid rents, abandoned units, eviction fees
Together, the programs enabled by these grant funds will provide the City with a more robust approach to addressing homelessness in the community. For more information, please visit https://landlordincentives.org/

Tenant Rights for Those Facing Eviction
The COVID-19 pandemic has cost people their jobs and livelihoods. This has left an estimated one-third of households not being able to make rent and facing losing their homes. This is a fear no one in our community should have to face. You have rights though, and Stay Housed L.A. is here to help.If you can't pay your rent because of COVID-19 financial hardship, or are being threatened with eviction for any reason, do not move out of your home. Only a court can order you to leave. You have rights and are protected by federal, state and local laws. To understand these laws, visit Stay Housed L.A.
Foothill Unity Center's Lunch Program
Within the San Gabriel Valley, there are many homeless people without access to appropriate food preparation or storage facilities. Foothill Unity Center's Monrovia site distributes substantial bag lunches three times a week, providing enough food to last for about two days. These lunches made up of sandwiches, instant soups, snack foods, fresh fruit, drinks, flip-top canned foods, canned meats and sweets, are given to people and families who are homeless or have no place to store or cook food. We also provide toiletry items weekly as available to help with hygiene needs. For more information please visit https://foothillunitycenter.org/how-we-help/food-programs/
