School Field Trip Program Information
The Gilb Museum is pleased to offer free field trips and outreach to local Arcadia schools. Field trips are available Wednesdays and Fridays at 10am. All school programs are aligned with California State History and Social Science Standards. The Museum does require schools to provide chaperones for field trips and must meet Arcadia Unified School District elementary school field trip guidelines with a ratio of at least 1 adult to 10 students. Requests must be received at least two weeks prior to the requested date of visit. Incomplete requests will not be processed.
Can't make it to the museum? No problem! We can come to you. Outreach programs are available to Arcadia Public Schools Tuesday-Friday. For more information, please call 626-574-5478.
Arcadia: Then and Now (Grade 3): Utilizing the museum's collection students will examine authentic objects from the past and learn about life for native peoples before settlers came into California. This program also offers a variety of activities for teachers to choose from to enhance and focus the program to students' interests, including: Nose to the Grindstone & Stories in Soap. [HSS: 3.2, 3.3.3]
Mapping California (Grade 3 & 4): This program allows students to examine replica primary source maps of early Arcadia and California. Using these documents and related materials, students will decipher the effects of social, political, cultural, and economic life and how it changed the landscape of California. [HSS:3.1.1, 3.1.2; 4.1.5]
*Home-school groups or grades other than 3rd or 4th that would like to schedule a field trip please select “Tour” option and please note in the Comments section that you would like a program for a different grade level. Home-school groups outside of Arcadia may request programs; however, Arcadia residents and schools will be given priority for reservations.
